Weight Loss Journey 2023 - The Beginning
Hey ho,
Your girl has turned 30 and what does that mean? It means I'm buying into that mystery girl glam who's got her life together, sipping on coffee, donned in luxury/elegant clothing and dainty jewellery that you often see on pinterest and instagram reels. That also does mean that I'm committed to another round of weight loss.
I've struggled with my weight before in 2015/16 which was my graduation year and was perhaps the heaviest I had ever been in my life and now I'm not anywhere near the heaviest I have been but I am heavier than what I would ideally like to be.
My current weight is 60.4 kg which compared to last year where I had been hovering between 55/56kg is a huge gain and this can be attributed to the luxury of good food and buffets.
I've just gotten back from a holiday and have another getaway trip at the end of the month so you can imagine how this first holiday has already "helped" me in my weight gain and having a second holiday soon is going to be another session of good food and enjoyment. So, before I head for my holiday, I'm committed to losing a few kilos at least so that I'm not carrying in the weight gain from the first holiday to the second.
In technicality, I have approximately 21 days or exactly 3 weeks before I head off for holiday and that does mean that timing is rather tight. When I've gone on to do some research around how much weight I could potentially lose in a safe manner, most information states around 2-3kg within 3 weeks. So, realistically my goal cannot be that I'll be back to the weight that I was last year.
However, I do believe that it's better to set ideal goals which are not completely unrealistic but are potentially achievable should I put in a little more effort. Something to also keep in mind is that in the beginning, it's a little easier to shed the initial kilos and it's those final kilos that are a tad bit more stubborn to get rid of.
Hence, my goal would be to lose 5kg within the next 3 weeks and for that proper planning is required and what I have been consistent with is starting the day with porridge/oats and coffee, then I have lunch, followed by an afternoon protein shake (20g of protein) and I have dinner or skip it depending on what I've had for the day. Chugging a tonne of water is equally as important although I haven't been consistent with my water intake and last but not least pilates or some form of workout everyday. I do prefer running but with the current unpredictable weather it's hard to commit to running and knowing myself if I tell myself I'm going to go for a run and it's starts chucking it, I'll probably just tell myself that I can workout tomorrow instead and that's not exactly the most healthy way to be especially after setting this particular goal for myself.
I am your 9-5 working girlie so I do have to get up at 6am to prep, get ready and go to work and get home after 6pm but I still make it a point to get absolutely everything in order before and after work because if you're not consistent then this really isn't going to work. However, having said that, my room is currently a mess with a pile of laundry that has been done and another pile that needs to be done. So, sometimes, you can't have it all, but you can work towards doing better for yourself. It really is about waking up everyday and being true to yourself, doing service for yourself and feeling happier and healthier because your life is yours to live and you should have the absolute pleasure of being content with it because really after all everyday is a gift and you're living and breathing, having more than you think you have and just savour every moment and live.
Alright then, I'll keep you all updated on my weight loss journey.
'Till next time. xx
