Update on Weight Loss Journey

It's been a couple of months since I decided to go on a diet, but then I decided that yoyo dieting, which is what I have been doing mostly will not work.

I decided to just make a lifestyle changes and commit to walking on an inclined treadmill for an hour or 5km everyday and started making my food at home so that I can control the amount of fats in my diet, that is not to say that some fats are healthy. I just needed to take control of what I was eating and also start moving so that I could start seeing some positive changes in my life.

I restarted the whole "diet" and committed to 90 days of positive change, that is not to say that I haven't had a croisant or two but I realised that I needed to commit myself to making these changes in preparation for Ramadan. So, I started on the 9th of February, and today is the 5th of March. I initially lost a couple of kilos, starting from 60.6kg, I went down to 57.6kg, which was about 3kg lost.

Unfortunately, I got into an accident and when I weighed myself, I was shocked to see the scale rise to 59.4kg at the time. I had to go through surgery and I literally was not allowed to do any exercise, so I have to pull the brakes for 2 weeks and right now, we have approximately a week before I am able to start exercising, because I have my dressing on, I am not allowed to get it wet, so unfortunately, any form of exercise, except for walking of course is currently not allowed.

I decided to just eat healthy, clean the house, drink lots of water in preparation to Ramadan which will also be in the next week or so. In this journey, as of right now, I'm at 58.4kg, which is 2.2kg lower than I first started but I'm taking things a day at a time.

I think if this was me in the past, I would have completely given up because of the fluctuating numbers, but now, I really have come to appreciate that the weighing scale is just a reference point and my weight will fluctuate, but what's more important is my fat, muscle and water composition that I should be worried about.

So, I have attempted to shift to a more plant based diet because of a few documentaries that I have been watching, health-wise I do think that it would help me in my journey not only for weight loss but also living a healthy lifestyle. I'm excited about what goes into my body. I don't drink as much coffee, I don't need it as much. I'm not as lethargic and I was also considering the health benefits from being more plant based more than anything, and I am going to update on the May 8th as to what my progress would be from making this switch.

I am hopeful that this diet would see a more lean body for me. But we will see. The fact that I don't have as much progress pictures is also worrying to me, but fret not, I have them measurements, body fat, visceral fat and muscle which can be used for comparison purposes later on.

Till my next post. xx
