Weight Loss Update and Musings
I woke up today and weighed myself and the scale read, "56.0kg". I was ecstatic. I finally reached a new low in my weight loss journey - this is probably the only time I'd be happy to be reaching a new low. My weight loss journey has been progressive albeit slow. I need to lose at least another 6kg by the end of April to be closer to hit my weight loss goal.
I've been quite disciplined these days to follow a strict diet and workout and nowadays I take the public transport to work which means that I do spend more time walking rather than if I were to drive to work. I don't get to workout on days that I take the train to work but I at least get 20 minutes of walking to and from the station.
Other days I try to do 5km everyday - that's also the way I lost weight the last time. I have a goal to focus on cardio until my weight plateaus again, and I'm gauging that I would have to start weight training on the 1st of April onwards. I have 4 days of being home so I'm going to focus on time in the gym, 5km and weight training.
Overall, I've been feeling really good about my health at least, sleep has been on and off, sometimes good, sometimes plain horrible but I'm surviving thankfully.
I'm really worried about my weight loss because sometimes you're losing a lot of weight, other days you're storing water and you feel bloated so I'm trying to make sure that my weight loss journey hits 50kg then down to 46kg and is not sabotaged by anything. I'm trying to eat as clean as humanly possible but that being said, I still indulge every now and then in less healthy snacks. I also do go out to eat with friends but when I do go out, I try to choose the healthier option where possible.
I started my weight loss journey on the 9th of February and gave myself 90 days to lose the weight. Starting from 60.6kg, I managed to thus far lose 4.6kg and am at 56kg within 50 days, but 21 days of that was actually recovering from an accident, so I had a plateau for awhile due to my accident and me not being able to workout as I was recovering from surgery.
I'm hoping that the last 40 days is going to be where I am able to lose another 6kg and finally achieve my goal of losing all the weight that I had gained from the last 2 years. When I do reach the 50kg mark, I'm going to have to be really disciplined to maintain it and then power through to lose another 4kg. Once I'm done and I'm hoping that I'm able to hit 46kg by mid-May if I'm not able to achieve it by 8th of May, my final weigh in being on the 9th of May.
It's still Ramadan now, so I am grateful that I get to fast and I have about 12 days (inclusive of today) of Ramadan after which I'll be back to fasting after Eid where I'll focus on fasting another 6 days during the month of Shawwal to make up for the days I wasn't able to fast. That would mean I would have 18 days of fasted workouts. I feel like when I do workout when I'm fasting, I tend to lose more weight compared to if I was working out on normal days, so, I'm going to try and maximise those fasted days so that I get the most out of it.
I think I'm just spiralling at this point cuz I'm worried of not achieving my goals. It's definitely so much harder to lose weight now that I'm older, not that I'm that much older, but I just feel that it's much easier to lose weight when you're a teenager or in your 20s, so once I hit my 46kg goal, definitely going to be doing a lot more maintenance to keep the weight off.
To 46kg! (I'm really just placing 50kg because it makes losing weight less daunting in the interim). I'll update soon on my weight loss journey.
Till next time. xx
